vCops Appliance and Remote Collector Support?

Hello,

I have a question as it pertains to the use of the vCops Appliance (vApp) and then using a remote collector for another site to send metrics across to the vApp.

I know there are ports that need to be opened on the vApp Analytics and UI VMs per the following article:

Add more Collector/Analytics collection to vapp

I also see the security implications, is this the official VMware stance? Is there any specific official VMware documentation or KB that defines this?
